Wrestling finishes second in classic

fchs wrestlingFALLS CHURCH — The Fluvanna wrestling team finished second in the George Mason Classic on Dec. 29.

FCHS placed 10 wrestlers in the event hosted by George Mason High School.

Freshman Logan Zimmerman was tournament champion in the 106-pound class. He improved to 12-2 on the early season.

Junior Marcus Jackson also was a tournament champion, taking the top spot in the 182-pound class. He is 4-4 on the year.

The final champion was sophomore Raejion White in the 195 class.

Dalton Wensel was the only third place finisher for FCHS. The sophomore took the honors in the 113 class.

Fluvanna had six athletes place fourth in the classic. Jake Mahaffey (132), Matthew Tankersley (145), Donnie Wilson (152), Jovan Burton (160), Aaron Zimmer (220) and Kyle Swanson (285) all finished in fourth place.

Next up for the Flucos is the Western Albemarle Duals on Jan. 5 at WAHS. Matches start at 9 a.m. in Crozet.
