Where are we?

I’ve asked myself that question often since Fluco Blog was launched in late October.

Let’s see, there are 490 fans on Facebook, multiple credits on other local news organizations and a whole lot of fun. Since launch there have been 2,471 visits. We average 23 visits per day.

Together we have had successful breaking news moments, live webstreams, dialogue on issues and many other triumphs. This isn’t just because of a rigorous reporting standard but due to the help of every user of Fluco Blog.

With that we have expanded to better serve you.

First, FCHS journalism program has written more articles for publication. The work submitted from these Fluco students is impressive and shows excellent reporters are in the making.

Second, we have said we will have a big surprise soon. Well, we found out last week it could be up to a month away if we can get it off the ground! That doesn’t seem fair when we said we would release something soon.

So here is something to wet your beak on, if you will. You can now download a custom toolbar for Internet Explorer or Firefox. With the toolbar, you are alerted with new articles, quick click to various sections and check our twitter feed. Until the big surprise, if it ever happens at this rate, enjoy the toolbar.

So where are we? Seems like we’ve driven 100 mph since launch and we hope you like what has happened. Hold on to your hat as we continue to surprise.
