All announced candidates have been certified.
Frederick D. ‘Rick’ Kelly (Republican nominee) and Tony P. O’Brien are certified for the Rivanna Board of Supervisors race. Kelly is a lawyer while O’Brien helped found Helix Computer Systems. Joe Chesser currently holds the seat and will only serve one term.

Franklin is known for her work with the Fluvanna Taxpayers Association. Sheridan is a middle school teacher. The seat is currently held by Shaun Kenney who will only serve one term.
The Cunningham School Board race is a rematch from last November’s special election. Incumbent Charles D. Rittenhouse is running against William M. Hughes. Last year Rittenhouse won with 51.86 percent of the vote. Hughes was appointed for one year after Doug Johnson resigned.
The other School Board races are not contested. Carol Tracy Carr is running for her first full term, serving the Rivanna District. She won a special election to finish Brian Phillips’ term.
Camilla D. Washington is running for re-election of the Columbia District. Washington is the current School Board chairwoman.
The other Board of Supervisors race, Don W. Weaver (Republican) is running for re-election unopposed. (See editor’s note below.)
The general election will be November 5, 2013. Fluco Blog will double-check no other candidates filed after 6:28 p.m. EDT on June 11.
