Planning Commission considers amending ordinance
March 11, 2010 by Fluco Blog · View Comments
PALMYRA — The Fluvanna Planning Commission is considering amending the sign ordinance to make it easier to enforce the local law.
The issues that exist with the current ordinance include inconsistencies where sections of the ordinance contradict one another, inadequate regulations pertaining to sign height/area and number of signs permitted per parcel as well as lack of regulations on common sign types.
The commission has been considering the proposed amendments for two meetings now. During the March 24 meeting, the commission will consider a resolution to formally initiate a zoning text amendment to make the proposed amendments to the sign ordinance.
The commission may also further discuss the proposed amendments briefly at this meeting. Once the zoning text amendment process is formally initiated, it is anticipated that a public hearing will be scheduled by the Planning Commission for the April 28 meeting.
If you have any questions or comments regarding these proposed amendments, please do not hesitate to contact Bryant Phillips with the Fluvanna County Planning Department at 434-591-1910 or bphillips@co.fluvanna.va.us.
