Fluvanna to have two firework shows

PALMYRA — For the first time, Fluvanna County will have two firework displays celebrating Fourth of July.

On June 2, the Board of Supervisors voted to execute a contract to have fireworks at the fourth annual Fluvanna Fun Days on July 10 at Pleasant Grove.

Lake Monticello recently announced the home owners’ association will have a firework display over the lake on July 3 as part of its Independence Day celebration. Last year was the first time LMOA did not have a display since the community started the capstone Fourth of July event.

Included in the festivities for Fluvanna Fun Days are various carnival rides and games. Admission is free although the rides are not. The four day event starts July 7 at Pleasant Grove.

Lake Monticello’s celebration is an all day affair on July 3 with annual events such as the ninth five-kilometer LM Spirit Run, swim across the lake, sand sculputre competition, kids’ games and more.
