Goochland — It was the same old foe but with higher stakes Thursday night for the Fluvanna Girls’ basketball team. The Flucos won the first ever Jefferson District basketball match up against Goochland 68-37.
Fluvanna was lead by swing-forward Mia Loyd’s second 20 point performance with 22 points. Senior forwards K-anna Loyd and Sarah Ryan had 21 and seven points respectively. Sophomore guard Terra Foster put in eight points.
This is the first Jefferson District match up between the longtime rivals. Both teams used to play in the James River District in the A division before Fluvanna moved to the AA division.
The Flucos (2-0, 1-0) next play against the Powhatan Indians on Dec. 7. Game time is set for 7:30 pm in the town of Powhatan.
