The game was postponed in the bottom of the third with neither team scoring. Fluvanna’s pitcher, freshman Ashleigh Harris, was commanding well and had the help of superb defense.
Harris had two walks in the second inning but Alex Fields made two solid stops at shortstop to end any Hornet threats. Offensively, the Flucos managed one hit and struck out several times.
FCHS is coming off of a solid win at Goochland Thursday night. Fluvanna was down 4-2 going into the top of the seventh when, with one out, Amanda Wood laced a double to right-center. Terra Foster followed with a bunt single.
After Foster stole second base, Harris got a two RBI triple. Chelsey Blevins then singled and stole second, when Hannah Miller singled home the final two runs. Miller pitched all seven innings with five strikeouts and one earned run
Friday’s game was first being delayed by lightening which led to a active thunderstorm with periods of rain. The game will be resumed with one out in the third inning. Woods will be the batter with no count and the score tied at 0.
