Cumberland — The Fluvanna boys’ basketball team steamrolled the Cumberland Dukes 88-44 Wednesday night.
The Flucos were paced by sophomore guard YaYa Anderson who finished the night with 22 points. Zack Miller and Jamal Toliver put in 11 points apiece. Cameron Coles finished the night with 10 points.
The teams traded baskets for the first quarter. After being tied at 14, Fluvanna went on a 33-13 run to finish the half with a 47-27 advantage. The third quarter didn’t go much better for the Dukes as Fluvanna stretched the lead to 64-38.
The win is the first road victory for Fluvanna. The Flucos missed out on two close games in their first road trips. In a trip to Madison, FCHS had a late game rally fall short to lose 64-56. In Dillwyn, Fluvanna lost 62-58 to old James River District rival Buckingham.
The Flucos (2-2, 1-0 Jefferson District) return to the Shoebox for a district matchup against Orange, weather permitting. The game is the Fluco Blog Live! game of the week.
