Flucos defeat Charlottesville 2x

The Fluco basketball teams both defeated Charlottesville Tuesday night.

In Palmyra, the boys’ basketball team (9-7, 6-3 Jefferson District) knocked off the previously unbeaten Black Knights (8-6, 7-1) 82-74. YaYa Anderson put in 25 points while Zach Miller scored a season high 18 points. Brandon Jackson scored 13 points and 12 rebounds in his first start of the year.

The girls’ basketball team stormed past the Black Knights 61-47 in Charlottesville. The Lady Flucos improve to 15-1 overall and 9-0 in the Jefferson District. FCHS is three wins from clinching the district and a first round regional tournament game.

Both teams return to action Friday against Orange. The boys’ team will be traveling to Orange. The girls’ team returns to the Shoebox and will be featured as the Fluco Blog Live! Game of the Week. Both games are slated to begin at 7:30 pm.

Earlier in the season both teams defeated OCHS handedly. The boys won by 30 points and the girls won by 24 points.

Both teams are scheduled to play Charlottesville again Saturday night. The weekend tilt is rescheduled from the earlier “Holiday Punch” snowstorm. The boys will be in Charlottesville and the girls will be in Palmyra.

Editor’s note: Fluco Blog is monitoring if these games have been moved up because of the suspected weather for Friday night. Will report on Facebook and twitter if there is a change.
