Fluco Track speeds past the competition

PALMYRA — The Fluvanna boys’ and girls’ track teams crushed Orange and Charlottesville high schools Wednesday night in a tri-meet held at Costello Stadium.

Fluvanna proved victorious taking first place on both the boys’ and girls’ sides. The Flucos dominated with a final score of Fluvanna 100, Charlottesville 38 and Orange 33.

The competition was a little tighter for the boys’ teams with final score being Fluvanna 80.5, Orange County 60.5 and Charlottesville 37.

Top performers for the Flucos include Greer Brown and K-anna Loyd. Brown placed first in 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles and second in the high jump, long jump and discus.

Loyd placed first in high jump and discus, second in the triple jump and third in the long jump. Brown and Loyd were joined by teammates Aesia Toliver and Emily Farina to take first in the 4×100-meter relay.

On the boys’ side, Kedarius Bruce helped Fluvanna secure the win by placing first in the long and triple jumps and second in the high jump, 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. The Flucos also took first, second and third places in the pole vault, led by Jonathan White, Chance Parmly and Thomas Wood, respectively.

The Flucos will be competing at Fork Union’s Gus Lacy Track Classic Saturday April 17, and will host their next tri-meet Wednesday April 21 at Costello Stadium.
