Last Tuesday Papa John’s supplied pizza to all the precincts for election workers. The same thing happened last November, along with Dunkin Donuts giving morning treats to the precincts. Domino’s Pizza has done similar in previous years.
The Columbia Precinct had recent improvements to help make it more accessible. Precinct chief Dan Graff organized the project.
New steps were installed. Chuck Lascano and Flex Podraza did most of the work. Both donated expertise and time. Graff donated supplies and helped as a runner to complete tasks. Laco, Inc. provided the equipment used.
The walkway leading up to the new steps were completed as part of a Fluvanna Ruritan project. Bryan and Claudia Thomas lead the project.Mel Sheridan worked to get permission to complete the work including graveling from the parking area to the steps for the new walkway.
The 2013 Democrat Primary results for Fluvanna were Aneesh Chopra winning 55.7 percent of the votes for lieutenant governor. Ralph Northam won the statewide primary.
Mark Herring won 64.2 percent of the Fluvanna votes for attorney general. Herring defeated Justin Fairfax in the statewide primary.
The Republicans had a convention to determine nominees. Fluvanna had no local primaries nor House of Delegates primaries.
