Defunct farms have more options with land use
July 29, 2010 · View Comments
PALMYRA — The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the creation of two special use permit categories at its last meeting on July 21. The new special use permits allow property owners to request their land be zoned to have a cemetery or commercial campground. The addition of the two classifications is directed to help owners of large property tracts, specifically farmers no longer in operation. Previously, the only options were to keep the land or subdivide. With the housing market not as strong as it was four years ago, subdivided land plots aren’t selling, leaving owners stuck... Uniforms not the goal of more defined dress code
July 29, 2010 · View Comments
PALMYRA — Despite additional definitions in Fluvanna County High School’s dress code, school administration does not advocate a school uniform. The dress code is more defined for 2010 than it has ever been. The move stops vagueness and bias to different body types. The additional definitions lengthens the possible size of bottom coverings, stops waistlines from being shown, increases size of shoulder straps among other changes. “I think we just simply asked [the students] to make sure whatever they wear it’s not going to be disruptive, it’s not going to be a distraction,... We do however have a potential partner that is interested in our model, design and platform. What will turn out from... [Read the full story]
